Academician Yulong Ding Emphasizes the Importance of Energy Transition
Academician Yulong Ding emphasized that we are in the midst of an unprecedented wave of energy transformation. The rapid advancement of energy storage technologies is reshaping the modes of energy generation, storage and utilization in an unprecedented way. From breakthroughs in advanced battery technologies to the innovative application of complex energy management systems, these achievements have moved beyond the theoretical realm and transformed into practical tools deployable on a large scale. Academician Ding conveyed his aspiration that this grand event would pool global wisdom, foster collaborative progress, further drive the vigorous development of the energy storage and saving sector, and jointly build a green and sustainable energy future.

Academician Guo Wanlin Reviews the Latest Progress in Ambient Energy Harvesting

Professor Neven Duić Introduces Technologies Related to Smart Energy Systems
Focusing on areas including phase change thermal energy storage, electrochemical/thermochemical energy storage, thermal management, heat and mass transfer in porous media, and energy conservation and emission reduction technologies, the conference set up 23 thematic forums and featured 31 keynote presentations. It also invited seven distinguished scholars to deliver plenary lectures, namely Academician Guo Wanlin, Academician Yulong Ding, Professor Neven Duić, Professor Ji-Hwan Jeong from Pusan National University (South Korea), Professor Yang Ronggui from Peking University, Professor Xu Shuangqing from Hefei General Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd., and Professor Christos N. Markides from Imperial College London (UK).
Among them, Academician Guo Wanlin reviewed the latest progress in hydroelectric gas technologies for ambient energy harvesting, elaborating on novel hydraulic power generation effects such as fluctuating potential, tensile potential and evaporation-induced potential developed over the past decade. He particularly highlighted the multi-field coupling effects between nanomaterials and water at the solid-liquid interface, and discussed the fundamental scientific issues of hydroelectricity as well as the opportunities and challenges in photovoltaic energy, ecology, and smart hydropower.
Professor Neven Duić introduced technologies related to smart energy systems and proposed various integration and utilization schemes for new energy sources such as wind and solar energy in his report. The research findings indicate that expanding the new energy market, encouraging demand response, and implementing composite pricing strategies will significantly optimize the existing energy structure. Meanwhile, developing intelligent energy regulation tools for multi-energy systems involving wind power, photovoltaics, thermal energy, hydrogen and ammonia will gain advantages in controlling the prices of new energy electricity in the future.
During the conference, the 4th Editorial Board Meeting of Energy Storage and Saving (English Edition) was held concurrently. The Editor-in-Chief, editorial board members, young editorial board members, and the publisher Ke Ai engaged in in-depth discussions on the preparations for the 4th International Conference on Energy Storage and Saving and the future development strategies of the journal.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Wang Qiuwang, Chair of ICENSS and Editor-in-Chief of Energy Storage and Saving (English Edition) from Xi'an Jiaotong University, announced the list of outstanding papers and excellent oral presentations of this conference, and declared that the next conference would be hosted by Sorbonne University (France).
Yan Kening from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, a recipient of the Excellent Paper Award, commented, "Our research focuses on the characterization of microscale thermal functional materials and interfacial thermal transport in thermal energy storage materials, as well as the optimization of thermal conductivity. This work was fully presented at the conference. We have benefited greatly from this high-level international summit. With this platform, we not only conducted in-depth exchanges with top global experts and scholars, but also sparked more innovative ideas through intellectual collisions, which will further advance our research and development in the field of thermal energy storage and clean energy systems."
